Optional: Set up a Custom Domain for your Recruiting Portal

Objective

The standard URL of the Recruiting Portal always includes a part like "powerappsportals.com". To get rid of this, you have to connect your Recruiting Portal to a custom URL, like for example "applytohubdrive.com". This Tutorial shows you how to do that.

Prerequisites

  • You have purchased a custom domain
  • You downloaded DigiCert or already have an SSL Certificate for the Domain
  • You are System Administrator
  • Your Recruiting Portal has been set up

Part 1: Create CSR file for SSL Certificate
  • Open DigiCert
  • Accept the conditions
  • Click on Create CSR
  • Choose Certificate Type SSL
  • The Common Name is the URL/ Domain you are trying to certify (e.g. "applytohubdrive.com")
  • Alternative names are other URL's that lead to the same site (e.g. "applytohubdrive.net", "applytohubdrive.org",…). Alternative names have to either be separated by commas or you enter one per line.
  • Fill the Organization field with the exact legal name of your company
  • In Department, you can enter the Department of your company the website is assigned to. This field can also be left empty.
  • Fill in the City, State and Country with the legal location of your organization
  • Choose the Key Size (The bigger the key size, the more secure the SSL Certificate. Beware that more secure certificates might mean higher costs. The Key needs to be at least 2046bits strong for the domain to be connected to the recruiting portal.)
  • Click on Generate
  • Click on Save to File
  • Purchase an SSL Certificate from a Certificate Provider of your choice. The CSR file you just generated will be needed in the process.


Part 2: Set up the Custom Domain

  • After you received your certificate, go to the Admin Center
  • Log in with your Admin credentials
  • Click on Manage on the left-hand side
  • Click on Environments
  • Click on the environment with your Recruiting Portal
  • In the top bar, click on Resources, then select Power Pages Sites
  • Click on Recruiting Portal - Hubdrive
  • Click on Connect Custom Domain
  • Select Upload new certificate
  • Click on Upload file and upload the certificate file provided by you certificate provider
  • Enter the Password for the file
  • Click on Next
  • Enter the custom domain in the Domain Name field (e.g. "applytohubdrive.com")
  • Click Next
  • Click Next
  • Review the information and click Next
  • When you see the message "Custom Domain name has been successfully configured", click on Close
  • Your Recruiting Portal now appears under this domain
